Waiting for “Eating Alaska”

November 18, 2010

During my recent trip to Denver I was able to watch a couple of films and a few ten-minute screenings for films at the American Public Health Association Conference Film Festival, organized by the Health Communication Working Group.  One of the ten minute clips I managed to catch was for a film Eating Alaska.

Synopsis?  A vegetarian marries deer hunter/commercial fisherman and moves to Alaska.  She wants to live off of the land, to live sustainably.  In her new neck of the woods, that means eating meat and seafood.  The film explores her journey in uncovering what Alaska has to offer, and what she has to do to live off the land.

Needless to say, I can’t wait to see this film!  If you or anyone you know would be interested in screening this film in the Philadelphia area, please contact me.
