Supper: Philadelphia Restaurant Review

March 30, 2011

Supper.  It happens around 5 p.m. every day.  But Supper the restaurant….

The dessert alone is worth it.  The warm fig with almond cake with a brown butter pomegranate sauce, and Turkish coffee ice cream.  The flavors danced in my mouth and was absolute perfection.

Supper at Supper on the other hand was so-so.  The pierogi appetizer was too crispy and lacked flavor.  The burger, though tasty, fell apart.   The halibut was dry and the parsnips from the side were undercooked.  The presentation was exquisite, and I deeply admire their efforts to use local foods.

The restaurant itself was beautiful; the main chandelier a piece of art.  The service was excellent.   I would go back – I live by the rule of try everything twice.

Kudos to the pastry chef, Justin Relkin.

Oh, and the local Blue Coat Gin martini was perfect.
