Apple Beet Ginger Ginger: Two Juice Recipes

May 10, 2012

More and more smoothie joints and juice bars are popping up around Philadelphia.  The smoothie bar at Reading Terminal Market and B2 coffee shop are my favorite juice spots.  Every once in a while I see someone looking at the smoothie bar in the Reading Terminal not knowing what to order and they end up ordering a lot of fruit (which is good for you!) but limits the nutritional possibilities and tends to be a lot of sugar.  Adding a little cucumber or carrot can go a long way.  Here are two great combos to try at a juice bar or at home!

The Nica – when ordering this ask for ginger ginger/double ginger

  • Two medium apples, cored
  • Two medium peeled beets
  • A tablespoon of peeled ginger (or more!  Ginger is great for you – eat it up!)
  • Water (with ice if you want it chilled)

The Annabelle

  • One handful of clean spinach or kale
  • Half an orange (with the rind if you wish)
  • One carrot
  • A tablespoon of peeled ginger
  • Water

Juice and enjoy!

All of my juicing is done with a Vitamix.  Check your blender or juicer instructions for its capabilities before blending away!

like you who are not afraid to say how they
